The aristocratic Roman nose on Blue Faced Leicester sheep gives them a certain elegant distinction. Their fleeces follow suit and are deservedly very popular. Blue Faced Leicester wool is a lovely, fine, soft and semi-lustrous wool and is quite creamy in colour, and as it is fine and smooth, can be used for next-to-the skin projects.
It is hard to improve on perfection, but worsted spinning Blue Faced Leicester yarn must come close!
Despite BFL’s softness, this fibre is also hard wearing and holds its block wonderfully, making it ideal for both more durable items and lace garments. The weight and semi lustre of the Blue Faced Leicester wool makes a drapey yarn, which reflects light softly, creating bright saturated shades.
