The Blacker Yarns team is led by Kamila, our Brand Manager who has been with the company since 2015. Kamila is from Poland and speaks several languages including Polish, English, Russian and some Czech.
Kamila oversees all aspects of Blacker Yarns processes from finding the right supplier for product development work to designing new ranges and colours. During the average working day Kamila will be in contact with many companies and individuals such as pattern designers, stockists, magazine publishers, photographers, and test knitters. Kamila is most likely to be your first point of contact if you are a customer placing an order or making an enquiry by telephone or email.
Kamila enjoys crocheting and fell in love with natural wool after creating her first design which was a shawl.
Emma joined the company in 2019 after studying textile design at Falmouth University, specialising in weaving. She provides marketing support for Blacker Yarns and this includes creating posts on our social media channels and updating the website. Emma is involved in the product design process and gets lots of satisfaction from telling the story of the yarn’s development from the initial concept stage through to delivery and enjoys seeing photos of customers’ creations in a yarn that she has designed.
Emma also helps in the warehouse assisting the team with the picking and packing of orders. Each year she attends a variety of trade shows throughout the country and enjoys meeting new contacts, customers, and suppliers.
Kamila and Emma are both keen knitters and share a passion for yarn and 100% British wool products with provenance – seeing the raw fibre first arrive in our mill and being transformed into the finest quality, beautiful yarn.
Blacker Yarns and Blacker Designs were launched in 2008 as brands of The Natural Fibre Company, our specialist wool mill at Launceston on the Cornwall-Devon border of the UK. NFC spins all the yarns we use for the Blacker brand, made exclusively from the fleece of British sheep. To see us in action and how our mill works, take a look at our films on YouTube.
We pride ourselves on the finest quality British yarns that we produce, created onsite by our highly skilled team of textile industry trained engineers and specialist finishers. Our yarns from natural fibres are made with integrity.
We offer a range of beautiful and contemporary, breed-specific yarns in a large variety of colour palettes as well as undyed. Our yarns are available in different weights including Double Knitting, Chunky, Lace, 3ply and 4ply amongst others and cover everything from every day classics providing good value to rare and luxury varieties.
