About

At Blacker Yarns we specialise in breed-specific British wool yarn, all spun under one roof in our mill in beautiful Cornwall in the South West of England. Our finest quality yarn is created by our highly skilled team of textile industry trained engineers and specialist mill operators.

We’re a small team sharing a big passion for designing, creating, promoting and wearing 100% pure wool products. We’re dedicated and hard working and love developing knitting and crochet yarns for your enjoyment. Kamila is our office manager who speaks English and Polish, Sarah is our marketing and PR executive. We’re fortunate to collaborate with many test knitters and freelance pattern designers from around the world who create wonderful knitwear and crochet garments and accessories with our yarns. Our mill colleagues who we share an office with also produce knitted and crochet sample items for us from time to time too.

Why Blacker? We’re named after the founder and previous owner of the business.

Our story began in 2008 when we were created as a sister company to The Natural Fibre Company, and today, our extensive range of quality yarns has gained us a growing number of followers and customers from around the world, with a shared passion for 100% Natural British Wool.

Our crochet and knitting yarns are available in different weights including Laceweight, 3ply, 4ply, Double knit (DK), Aran and Chunky, amongst others and cover everything from rare to luxury premium ranges in a large variety of different bases in contemporary colour palettes that we hope you will love as much as we do.

We’re passionate about our products and that’s why we work with only the very best quality fibre, sourced from British farmers who take the utmost care of their animals and nature. Traceability is key to what we do and by developing a greater understanding and respect for the many breeds of sheep (including rare and specialised ones) and their beautiful fleeces, we can produce the best knitting and crochet yarns, giving you, our valued customer, the opportunity to enjoy working with and wearing 100% pure and natural, unique wool.

We also care about the environment and believe in being kind to our planet for future generations, so we are conscious of the need to reduce our carbon footprint and source our supplies from other local and small businesses, whenever possible. We recycle as much of our waste as we can, and by doing so, also support the circular economy. This is one of the many reasons why we love working with wool, a versatile and recyclable product. Anything created in our yarns can then be returned to the ground to decompose, as we only use organic dyes and we do not produce any super wash or nylon yarns.

We’re delighted to be able to offer you the very finest UK wool yarns to enhance your knitting and crocheting experience.

Please note that our office operating hours are 8am to 4.30pm Monday to Thursday only and orders placed online during a weekend (Thursday to Sunday)will be processed and dispatched on the next working day, Monday. Thank you for your support.
