Unisex Aran Knitted Beanie – Project Kit
Since it’s Winter and the weather has been so cold this year, Lizzie of Neli Handmade has used our lovely multi-tonal warm and comfortable Aran wool to design the cosy beanie hat.
Lizzie says she has fallen in love with this wonderful palette of colour, with tiny flecks of blue infused with the rich golden tones.
As a child her mum used to dress Lizzie in shades of brown and green, to compliment her hair colour. All she wanted was pink… but she admits she would wear this with pride.
This beanie is designed to be a snug fit. It can be made with or without the detailed picot design edge. Something just simple, it has an ‘ABBA-esque’ feel to it, suitable to go with any outfit.
Our kit for this beanie comes in our recyclable box, and contains the pattern and one skein of Westcountry Tweed. The unisex beanies in our photos are knitted in Sunset Sea (modelled by Lizzie) and Reef Grey (modelled by Ethan), but you can pick from any of our Westcountry Tweed shades.

This beanie is one size (medium and large), and all knitted in one piece.
The yarn is Aran Tweed (100% British wool from the West Country. One skein of 100g (c155m, 170yds).
To knit this design you will need 1 pair of 4mm (UK8 USA6) and 1 pair of 5mm knitting needles.
7 stitch markers, scissors and a wool needle for sewing up.
