We love to work with talented people who share our passion for the finer things in life such as using our quality wool to create long lasting and beautiful garments. And so we’re thrilled to release our latest knitting project kit in collaboration with the wonderful designer Virginia Sattler-Reimer. The simply heavenly, Horae Cowl and Tam Project Kit includes two of Virginia’s patterns and two skeins of our Blacker Yarns Pure Shetland Coffee 4-Ply. Both Cowl and Tam can each be knitted with just two skeins of our gorgeous 100% British wool yarns.
These stunning Fair Isle accessories are named after goddesses of the four seasons, and Virginia was inspired by the change in weather and the geometry of the motif. Virginia chose our Espresso and Latte shades to knit the tam and cowl, however you can select any colour combination from our current Pure Shetland coffee range to create your own version.
As well as adding the Horae Cowl and Tam Project Kit to our wide collection of kits to inspire you we have also collaborated with Virginia on the recent release of her Transatlantic Cowl, Transatlantic Tam and Transatlantic Mittens patterns for which she used our Blacker Yarns Gotland DK. Virginia, who is based in Minnesota, America, says that in thinking about the history of our beautiful fibre and the journey it made to her hands she was reminded of a similar journey her relatives took so long ago, resulting in her hands being in that place. The Transatlantic designs are Virginia’s way of honouring that journey.
Virginia says: “As a fan of producers of yarn with a close connection to the animals and place it comes from, I am always so delighted to work with Blacker yarns. They bring a unique expertise to their yarns which are so beautiful in the way they are spun and how they handle. They are a treasure and an absolute favourite treat for the eyes and needles.”
You can find out more about Virginia’s designs and work by visiting her Etsy and Ravelry pages.
