Cornish Garden Cable Hat

This made-to-measure beanie pull-on hat is an updated and more complex version of our very popular original beanie. It is made with a plaited cable braid rim and then the centre is worked upwards by picking up around the rim, with a spiral design and shaped using decreases inside ridges formed of bands of garter stitches. The hat is worked back and forth and seamed to finish, but it is also possible to work the rim back and forth and then the crown in the round, if you wish. Instructions for a simpler version are also included at the end of this pattern.
