Blacker Swan Yarns

Blacker Swan

The original Farm to Yarn Story.

Blacker Swan, launched in 2012, began as a result of a partnership between Blacker Yarns and Andrez and Ali Short of Swan Inlet Farm on the Falkland Islands, a British Overseas Territory in the South Atlantic.

Following the Short’s retirement the flock of specialist Dohne Merino sheep passed to Mike and Donna Evans at Spring Point Farm, also of the Falkland Islands where the fine white merino wool is shorn, sorted, graded, shipped to the UK and finally delivered to our Launceston mill in Cornwall for transforming into luxurious, worsted-spun single-flock yarns. 8% Shetland Moorit sourced from a farm in Somerset or dark Blue-faced Leicester wool from a flock reared in Cornwall has been added to the Pale Maiden base yarn and 15% to the Stone and Sand bases. The Dusty Miller shade is pure Merino.
