Op Art Shawl – Project Kit in Gotland Yarn

The Op Art Shawl designed by Sonja Bargielowska for Blacker Yarns features a play the traditional Old Shale lace pattern, updated to create a shawl with a more modern construction and feel. The lace pattern distorts the stripes in a way that is reminiscent of the work of Bridget Riley, and so the name was born. This pattern is written to be worked in two colours.

This shawl is knitted from edge to edge, using a combination of Old Shale Lace and Garter Stitch. It features a simple stripe sequence and some short row shaping. The edges are neatly finished with an icord.

The kit contains the pattern and 3 skeins of Gotland, all beautifully presented in one of our recyclable cardboard boxes.

Our sample is knitted in Mist and Shower, although you can choose from any of our current Gotland DK range.
