Long Cardy – Project Kit
This project kit for the Long Cardy comes in two versions – with sleeves or sleeveless. We love both versions, and although great for cold weather, it is also a good garment for cool summer evenings or even after a swim.
The kit contains the knitting pattern by Blacker Yarns, and the appropriate number of skeins of our beautiful new Gotland DK yarn. It will arrive with you in one of our Blacker Yarn project bags, and would make a fantastic present for a friend, or perhaps yourself.

This cosy long cardigan has a deep welt, which can be sewn down the sides to make a narrowed shape, or left unsewn with side slits. Both sleeves and buttons are optional and the front bands go right to the bottom of the garment. The deep shawl collar can be made all in one colour or with a contrast lining effect. A multi-cable motif decorates and shapes the centre back. Hand warmer pockets complete the comfort

Instructions are for approximate UK sizes:
size S 10-12, size M 14 -16 and size L 18 -20
The garment is designed to be loose-fitting,
as outer wear, so the chest measurements
are:
Small: 104 cm / 41 inches
Medium: 112 cm / 44 inches
Large: 120 cm / 47 inches
Length: 79 cm / 31 inches from neck to hem,
and 58.5 cm / 23 inches from under arm to
hem
Sleeves: 43 cm /17 inches long, underarm
Yarn
Size S: 750g Blacker Yarns Gotland Double
Knitting yarn (or any other of our DK yarns)
Size M: 800g
Size L: 850g for given length
For the sleeveless version you will need 500
(550, 600) grams.
For a contrast collar and wide cuff lining,
you will need an extra 50-100 g of the chosen
colour.
NEEDLES AND NOTIONS
1 pair each 3.75 mm (UK9, US 5), 4 mm (UK
8, US 6) and 4.5 mm (UK 7, US 7) needles
Stitch markers or coloured thread, stitch
holder
7 buttons (optional)
GAUGE / TENSION
21sts and 22 rows to 10cm / 4 inches in
stocking stitch using 4 mm needles
Adjust needle size to give required tension.
