Pattern designed for:

Blacker Yarns woollen spun 3-ply or 4-ply yarns.  The cover version was worked in 3-ply Cornish Garden yarn.  A woollen spun yarn is traditional for Fair Isle work as the fluffiness makes it “sticky” when working with colours.  If a worsted spun yarn is chosen, it will require approximately 50-100g additional yarn as the vertical tension is lower. This design would also be attractive worked in 4-ply Blacker Breeds Shetland natural shades or Blacker Gotland natural and dyed yarn and should not need re-grading.

Blacker Cornish Garden 3-ply yarn: MC Hepworth natural 3 (4, 4, 5) 100g skeins, 1 100g skein each of Trebah blue, Tremenheere dark grey, Boconnoc deep pink, Cotehele golden orange and Heligan green

Gauge/tension:

28 sts and 36 rows rows = 10 cm / 4 inches, over stocking stitch using 3.25mm needles

Pattern notes:

The sweater is worked bottom up to make a front, a back and four sleeves which are then joined in the round to work the Fair Isle yoke.  Instructions are given for working back and forth.
