Yarn Thickness for Pattern Double Knitting
Garment Type Hats

Back Story

Level of difficulty: easy, for a first cable

This Beanie is one of our most popular patterns and has been knitted many times by Ravelry members! It is based on our signature four-strand cable, designed to emulate our Celtic-style Carrick Bend knot logo. The band is worked first and then the stitches for the crown are pickup from one edge. The mitts are made to match and can be done with just a slit for the thumb or with a knitted thumb piece.

The pattern is for Double Knitting yarn - Blacker Yarn of course!

First Time HatReview by Jane
This is the first knitted hat I have attempted. The instructions are easy to follow and it is quick to make. Very rewarding as I too have had lots of nice comments. A lovely pattern to show off the yarn from my Poll Dorset sheep spun by NFC for the first time this year and I was delighted with the results. Thank you for allowing us to have and enjoy this pattern (Posted on 05/12/2013)
Great hat patternReview by Wendy
I have made this hat and mitts several times using wool from our flock of Jacob sheep that the NFC spun for us, and it is nice to find such an interesting design which is simpler to knit than it looks (tip: mark cable rows with stitch markers ...) I have been stopped by strangers who remark on the lovely design, and have had to explain that the cables are done sideways then you pick up along the edge ...

A lovely pattern, rewarding and fun to knit, and great to wear.

Highly recommended! (Posted on 27/08/2013)
