Alpaca

Alpaca

Alpaca is a smooth and fine fibre, producing lovely yarns both pure and blended with wool or silk. The brightness of alpaca colours can also be used to add natural shades to white wool yarns.

Our yarn range can only cover part of the large range of natural alpaca shades! They are normally in 50g balls, unless otherwise described on the Details tab on each individual product page.

An alpaca yarn is less elastic than a wool one and will produce a heavier, more draping garment. Bear this in mind in choosing patterns.

For more detailed information on TENSION/GAUGE, please refer to the 4-ply and finer, 5-ply guernsey yarns, Double Knitting, Aran and Chunky pages which give data on needles and swatches.
