Alpaca is a smooth and fine fibre, producing lovely yarns both pure and blended. We have both pure alpaca and also occasional limited editions of woollen-spun blends with Shetland wool.
Our newest yarns are a subtle range of natural pastel shades using the colour of the alpaca to tint organic white Corriedale wool and then gilding the lily by worsted spinning - really lovely!
An alpaca yarn is less elastic than a wool one and will produce a heavier, more draping garment. Bear this in mind in choosing patterns.
