Pure Shetland wool can be the finest of British breed wools and we select the finest we can find, so our Shetland yarns are particularly soft.

Shetland fleeces can vary considerably, and are so versatile they can be ideal for chunky to lace-weight. Originally the fine wool from Shetland sheep was used mainly to knit stockings, exported to the UK and the Netherlands from the 17th century onwards. Shetland lace-work shawls included the famous ring shawls that are so fine they will pass through a wedding ring.

Our latest offering of Shetland wool yarns are available in 4-ply and DK (double knitting/double knit) weights, and supplied as 100g skeins as well as a limited edition blend with BFL wool and available on cones.
