Knitting patterns by mail

Our knitting patterns are designed either in-house or by some of our favourite designers. We aim to make them as classic styles which are both modern and long-lasting - to make your work stylish but also to ensure that it is not out-dated before the real wool yarns you have used wear out!

Our new book, Pure Wool, contains both updates on some patterns and also a large proportion of completely new designs. Where there is an update, the previous edition is still available as a free pattern, but you will need the book to get the latest versions. For more information, please click here.

Although we try very hard to ensure the patterns are correct, there are sometimes errors, updates and changes are made. We rely on the great goodwill and attention to detail of those who buy and use the patterns and always check on any questions or suggestions. So, if you have a problem, please do not hesitate to contact us. If you have bought a pattern and think there is an update available, please let us know and we will send you the latest version free of charge.

Newest patterns are listed first, but you can also search by type using the selection choices in the left-hand column.

You can also download for free in colour at downloadable patterns page.

We have re-edited all the patterns to have different colours and fonts for each size, where applicable, so they should work when printed in both colour or monochrome - but please let us know how you get on!

All our patterns specify the amount of yarn you need, but knitters, yarns and ideas vary so if you need more wool, we cannot guarantee that it will come from the same batch and may not be a perfect match.

This is because we blend natural colours and use fleece from different flocks of sheep, so no one batch will be the same as the next, even from the same breed. If you are in any doubt about quantity, to avoid running short buy an extra 50 gram ball when you place your order.

Although the patterns will be suitable for all our yarns in any particular thickness (DK, etc), some work better in certain yarns than others. Please telephone us with any queries.

Please also note that yarn requirements may vary considerably if patterns are worked in a different yarn to the original and also that worsted spun, lustre and alpaca yarns tend not to go as far as woollen spun, non lustre yarns. Working with two strands will alter knitting gauge and tension for each individual to a different degree so this will also affect yarn requirements.
