Nice things come in small packages! Here is a finer yarn to add to our Shetland range: in white, grey and dark brown. The tension, working on 2.75-3mm (old UK size 12-11) needles, results in a 10cm (4") square at 30 sts and 40 rows, and 18 wpi.
The gauge is a bit thicker than lace weight and would probably be classed as 2-3-ply/baby.
The yarn is in c.25g balls and measures 105m (109 yds) approximately yardage per ball.
Shetland sheep can produce the finest fleece of all the British breeds so the yarns are particularly soft.
The colours range from white, through creams, fawns to mid and deep browns and also come in greys and almost black. Each batch will thus be very different!
The colours can be knitted together to create traditional Fair-isle patterns or more modern but subtle styles.
