Classic British yarns

Classic British yarns

Our Classic British yarns in natural and dyed 4-ply, DK and Aran and natural Chunky are excellent value!

This special range of yarns, launched in 2011, is made from British breeds white wool from our supplier farms, blended with 30% Blue-faced Leicester from a group of farms in North Wales. We start with the natural creamy white and then add heathered grey or fawn using mainly Hebridean or Manx fleece.

We then dye the three resulting natural shades in subtle colours, which will all tone with each other.

The lofty woollen spun yarns are designed to give you a classic, traditional knitting experience, in natural and attractive dyed colours, available in 4-ply, DK, Aran and Chunky weights. The added Blue-faced Leicester wool softens the handle to make comfortable, light and warm garments or it will felt well for accessories. The perfect balance between strength and softness?

Our Blacker Classic British yarns are good for all types of projects and are priced to give value for money and provide an economic alternative to our rarer, special and luxury yarn ranges. They are supplied in 50g balls, as described on the Details tab on each individual product page.

For more detailed information on TENSION/GAUGE for these woollen spun yarns, please refer to the 4-ply and finer, 5-ply guernsey yarns, Double Knitting, Aran and Chunky pages which give data on needles and swatches.
