Description

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE HAVE RE-DESIGNED THE TWINE TO MAKE IT STRONGER SO WE CAN ONLY CRAM 68 metres/74 yards INTO EACH TIN NOW! But it will perform much better for you ...

NOTE: because we use various fleeces to blend with the basic white Devon and Cornwall Longwool fleece, so the colour may vary from cream to brown: if you want a specific colour, please telephone us on +44 (0) 1566 777635 to check the current batch and/or place your order.

Some fleeces are too strong and coarse for knitwear - so what's the answer? CHUNKY GARDEN TWINE OF COURSE!

The Devon and Cornwall Longwool sheep breed is rare and special and serves its local community well. They don't have soft fleeces, but goodness, they are strong and therefore perfect to spin for a sustainable, locally produced, garden twine. We blend with a little coarse Hebridean wool to colour it greyer, to tone into the undergrowth!

We complete the deal with a re-useable tin, a nice label and the twine can be pulled from the centre so should not cause the usual dreadful tangles which lead us to lose our tempers and dump string! Each tin contains around 68 metres (74 yards) of thick twine: the ideal, different and sustainable gift for all gardeners or someone you'd like to see in the garden!

Reviewing: Garden Twine Tin

Customer Reviews

  1. Excellent twine - very sturdy

by Kristina on 11 Oct 2012

I purchased the old style of twine (I think it's been recently redesigned to be more sturdy?) as a gift and it was quite a hit! My dad used it to tie up his tomato plants and was very pleased that the wool is from Cornish sheep, as he's from Cornwall.

However, while I purchased it because of its provenance, I also recommend the twine for anyone who's interested in a sturdy garden twine, especially for gardening in a humid climate because it's mildew-resistant. It still looks like new even after being out for over 5 months.
